Hydroponic farming is the process of producing crops in water by adding the nutrients needed for the crop. This concept is used to produce crops in hydroponic system and produce crops in water instead of soil. In this process all the nutrients of the crop are mixed in the solution and the trees are planted there. Hydroponics is the future farming in world.
What Are Hydroponic Systems and How Do They Work
A hydroponic system is a way of increasing plants in the absence of soil. This type of garden is considered as a sustainable agricultural activity because it increases the chances of producing safe food for yourself even after living in a narrow space of buildings due to urbanization.
Hydroponic is the process by which all the essential elements of a plant are supplied to the plant by making a solution through water without soil. However, plants can also be grown in various organic, inorganic substances such as cocoa-dust, cocoa-peat, pitmess, perlite, rockul, etc. to provide support to the plant.
Our food security is being questioned day by day as agricultural lands are being used for non-agricultural purposes all over the world. Place is a very important element for growing crops. But the security of the present land or place is our biggest challenge.
Hydroponics has brought fallow lands, courtyards, roofs, verandas, etc. under agricultural use.
In conventional farming methods, the plant uses about 80% of the land surface, but in the hydroponics system, the same plant uses only 10% of the land.
This is probably the most intensive method of growing crops on earth, where the best use of water, plant nutrients and land can be ensured.
In the hydroponic system, the tree grows not only without soil but also because the roots grow in the water.
As we know, plants grow in the process of photosynthesis. And photosynthesis is done in the light of sunlight and in the presence of chlorophyll present in the leaves, it is converted into glucose and oxygen.
Nowhere is the need for soil mentioned. This means that plants cannot survive without soil.
In the true sense of the word, water and nutrients are collected from the soil by the plant to make food for the survival and management of physiological functions, and the soil provides support for the plant to stand. In other words, if these can be provided in any other way, then it is possible to grow plants without soil.
This opportunity is used in the hydroponic method. In this case, the roots of the tree should be dipped in a nutrient-rich solution or kept in contact.
Common Needs for hydroponic farming
Due to the increase in population in Bangladesh, the amount of cultivable land is decreasing day by day. It is possible to meet that demand by producing crops in a medium other than soil in a hydroponic manner. In this way, it will also be possible to benefit by producing high value crops in closed areas in the city. The hydroponic method is environmentally friendly and no pesticides are required in this crop as there is less pest attack.
However, this method cannot be called completely new for Bangladesh. In this country, some hydroponic culture has been going on for a long time without the knowledge of the farmers. At present, there is an opportunity for further development through the use of technology. In areas of Bangladesh where water has been frozen for a long time, floating organic beds have been used to produce a limited range of crops in this manner. This natural hydroponic method also has the opportunity to cultivate crops throughout the year using unused resources. There is also a need to know about modern hydroponic methods for the development of these conventional methods. However, it should be kept in mind that the floating cultivation method is different from the current technology dependent hydroponic method. By hydroponic culture or farming we mean modern technology based hydroponic crop cultivation management. Bangladesh is working hard to expand this system and is rapidly moving towards success.
